Local group, Paddleboard Maidenhead, have raised over £600 for The Dash Charity having donned their Santa suits for a Christmas Eve charity paddle down the Thames!
Keen paddleboarders were encouraged to sign up for the fancy dress event, which launched from Boulter’s Lock, with all entry fees being donated directly to the RBWM-based charity.
25 participants braved the chill early on Christmas Eve and passers by were greeted with the festive sight of numerous Santas and a Rudolph gliding along the river.
PaddleBoard Maidenhead hope that they are able to make this an annual local event and make it bigger and better year on year.
Belle, a coach from Paddleboard Maidenhead said “We were overwhelmed with the fantastic support we received from our SUP Club members, family, friends and other local SUP Clubs. We are delighted to have been able to support such an important cause and hope to hold further charitable events in the year ahead”
The money raised will go towards the Dash Charity’s Helpline facility which is the first port of call for anyone locally experiencing domestic abuse and needing advice and support.

The Dash Charity
The Dash Charity provides specialist support to families affected by domestic abuse. They offer a range of support options, including refuge provision, outreach support, support for children and young people and a dedicated helpline. Their community services in Windsor and Maidenhead supported 440 adults and 120 children last year. Their Helpdesk received over 1500 calls and web enquiries over the past year.
