What type of paddleboards do you use?   

 

We have a fleet of inflatable Quroc boards. These are great quality, super stable and we have 11’4 or 12’6 boards available.

Hiring is not recommended for beginners unless someone in your group has river experience. Dangers include motorised boats, rowers, fisherman, weirs and not being able to self-rescue.

 

Our 2 hours ‘Skills, Safety  & Rescue’ class is a great idea before you hire - recommended not obligatory. Our experience shows us that those paddling with instructors, tend to cover a greater distance - maybe it is also the useful coaching tips!  If you decide to paddle with the group instead of hire, you can be as private as you want and go on further ahead.  You must be at least 18 to hire boards from us.

 

If you are hiring and have not 'portaged' around the locks before then we do not recommend that you do this. Our hire routes allow 2 hours of paddling without the need to portage.

We have a commercial waterways licence and are fully insured for board hires.   

Sessions usually run for 2 hours (£33). It is vital that you arrive in good time for your hire session as hires usually run at the same time as our group sessions. You must be present for the safety briefing and launch with us.

We also ask you to ensure that you keep an eye on time and return the boards by your session finish time. We offer off peak discounts and  longer hire sessions outside the peak season.

Yes, as long as there are adults with river experience present. Smaller kids can ride on a board with an adult.

If you are taking more than 3 children with you, we recommend you book one of our Junior Instructors for your group. Kids respond well to some playful tuition and you will be able to enjoy it more with extra eyes!

 

We provide buoyancy aids and additional leashes for kids and these must be worn at all times.

All hires are booked online. During the cooler weather, you will need to contact us to arrange.

 

Wherever you see Guided River Trips and Lessons on our schedule there will be an option to hire a board. If you can't find a date and time that suits you, just send us a message.
